This is a great video. You make it clear what, why, where and how with all aspects of the work. Also the black background makes it easy to see the thick cloud of fine particulates of saw dust when you explained the importance of using breathing protection. It does cause some concern for for your breathing. Is there not a mick small enough to fit in a respirator? Like they have for motorcycle helmets.

Thanks Mike, I just bought a used VM100 that needs this done to it. I had to change the spindle adapter from 1” to 1.25”, which was an easy job, but I’ve been a little hesitant about doing more than an outside wipe down with a rag with acetone on it. That helped, but it needs the thorough cleaning and relube you demonstrated. Thanks for the timely video. Cheers, Tom

When changing jaws, Record Power recommends snugging the screws, then closing the jaws completely, then tightening the screws. Is that just a Record Power thing, or is it a good idea for all chucks? (I have one RP and three VM.)

The tool rest is not at all good. It has a locking mechanism that locks in coarse increments that don't correspond to useful grinding angles. The rests are also light weight and flimsy. As provided, vibration is excessive, this is from grinding wheels which are not balanced. Would I buy again? Yes. But figure on changing out to CBN wheels with balancing washers and a 3rd party tool rest.

Good demonstration! My only gripe is many kit makers require specific odd sizes of Forstner cutters, e.g., 9/32", to fit their parts. Why not keep dimensions standard to 1/4" intervals? Seems like a cheesy way to sell tools; this sort of buffoonery needlessly adds cost to the hobby.
